Hello and Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website today.
About Doctor Rosey
I was born in Queensland but moved to Mandurah in WA at age 5 where I began classes in calisthenics. I was accepted into the ‘state team’ and won the state championships for my solos, multiple times. Mum was a real estate agent and Dad worked in Sales. My slightly older sister was always excellent at swimming and sailing. At age 9, I received my junior black belt in Rhee Taekwondo whilst maintaining excellent grades at school.
My family relocated to New Jersey in the US as my Dad got a promotion and a 3 year contract to work there. There were no calisthenics in NJ, so my Mum enrolled me at a well-regarded dance school in New Jersey. Mum bought me a portable wooden dance floor which she put in the basement.
She was very encouraging and I used to practice and tap away on it every single day. I was accepted into the New Jersey Youth Dance Foundation and we competed against other young dancers all over the USA. When I was 12 years old, I placed 11th in the world for my ‘jazz’ dance solo at the World championships in Florida, and first place as part of the USA team.
When we moved back to Western Australia I was about 12 and wanted to keep dancing. I had developed such amazing skills from being trained in America that I won all the local dance competitions. I stood out in jazz, lyrical and tap and went back to Calisthenics where I won the ‘Miss Graceful Girl WA’ and started my qualifications to become a Calisthenics coach.
At the same time I started High School and was accepted into a pre-professional dance training program at WA Conservatoire of Classical Ballet – a top ballet institute in Perth. Mum used to pull me out of school and drive me to Perth every Tuesday afternoon so I could be taught by the best teachers there to prep me for a professional dance career.
I had private tuition in Mathematics to help with the missed lessons, but I still managed to retain the Head of Sports title through grades 8-10. I was very active and won local competitions playing classical music on the flute.
I created a DVD and ran the high school year book/newsletter while at the same time I ran high school talent competitions where we got the performing students together to raise money. I also represented the school in swimming and cross-country running competitions and was always on the honor roll for straight ‘A’s all through years 8-10.
My middle teenage years saw the loss of my Aunt Liz, Aunt Anne, and my Grandfather to cancer. My Aunt Anne had previously shared books on Eastern Medicine with me and at the time, inspired me to look into complementary medicine for general well being and to take power around my health.
At 15 I was accepted into a WA Performing Arts school for contemporary ballet but declined the offer. Instead I won a scholarship to become a professional dancer in all styles of dance performance and theatre. I relocated to Melbourne to learn at Dance World at the age of 15 – most students were in their mid – 20’s. I graduated with two diplomas in dance.
I won The Excellence Award ‘being excellent in all styles of dance’, it was the award for being the most ‘talented’ dancer. I completed my Advanced Ballet 1 certificate as I skipped Year 11 and completed my Year 12 Senior High School certificate through WA Schools of Isolated and Distance Education.
I helped raise money for a non-profit dance company for children to dance called ‘Yellow wheel’. I danced with this non-profit company, did a Television commercial and had several modelling jobs while I auditioned and waited to get a contract dancing overseas.
More about Doctor Rosey
Age 19 came quickly and I won my first dance contract overseas! I ventured off and traveled the world dancing continuously for 3-4 years. My last role was with Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship called “Quantum of The Seas” which was, at the time the largest and newest cruise ship in the world, situated in the Caribbean.
I was burning the candle at both ends when I had a hamstring tear. I met a Doctor, Greg Bode, in Florida. Turns out that he was one of the best Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors in the US. He would treat all the stars and top performers in Las Vegas and Miami – he was very straight with me and told me I needed to sort out my health otherwise I was going to end up unwell.
He impressed me with how he treated my hamstring tear with acupuncture, which saw immediate results, even though I had suffered with this injury for almost 6 months with no western remedy. I was constantly run down – I worked 2 extra on-ship jobs on top of dancing to earn some form of income (I was a seamstress and parade costume manager).
The stress of becoming financially independent, getting 4 – 6 hours sleep a night, maintaining any form of relationship with friends and family and keeping my body in peak condition saw me become underweight, and prone to injury.
I was dancing in China in a showgirl show when I tore the meniscus in my left knee. I was sent home to Australia to rest for 3 months. While away from work, I realised I was ready to leave the dance industry as I was searching for a less lonely life experience. I seemed to think differently to the dancers I worked with. I was much happier resting in WA, away from the industry and decided I needed a change.
I was inspired by the Doctor I met in Florida and enrolled in a Chinese Medicine degree. Next thing, I packed up my stuff, moved to Melbourne and continued my journey, learning about Traditional Chinese Medicine. It was a chance to create health through a balanced life. It was a time to learn about spirituality, emotional awareness and strengthen my physical body.
I began studying and haven’t looked back since. More than 5 years later and a fully qualified Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, not only is TCM my profession but it is my passion and I love to share my knowledge and life lessons with like-minded people. If you are one of those people, please make a booking with me, I’d love to talk to you!
